Just Breathe
“Breathing, being quiet, spending time with yourself one of humanity’s lost arts.”
How to:
1- Relax: find a somewhat quiet and comfortable place to sit. Relax your shoulders and abdomen. Relax your jaw. Try to rid every muscle in your body of work or simply let all required muscles share the load of supporting you.
2- Breathe: in and out from the stomach. Feel it expand and contract with your hands. This is true deep breath.
3- Center in the heart… Close your eyes. Allow your breathing to bring all your awareness to the center of you and all the sensations flowing along your spine, through your core and limbs. What do you feel? What do you hear? Focus only on the things of NOW- what’s happening around and inside you. The present is reality- the only thing you really have to deal with. The present is the only time you can actually get anything done.
4- Focus on breathing out- let go. This is a point of and opportunity for complete relaxation and inner peace.
5- If the mind wanders- distractions come. Each breath is the chance to start again. Such is Life. Allow your breathing to bring all your awareness to the center of you and everything happening NOW.
6- Pay attention- to every sensation you feel; enjoy the experience. Learn to free your mind from the past and the future. NOW is all that matters.
Exercises (that may help): breathe in for 2 counts and out for 4 counts
If you encounter inspiration of any sort, enjoy it and accept it as potential for your life. Write it down for safe-keeping and look for opportunities to take that path.
